Eddie Hearn and Deontay Wilder have settled their differences following a six-year dispute.

The duo have have aimed jibes at each other and argued since 2018, largely down to their different stances over a showdown between the 'Bronze Bomber' and the promoter's fighter Anthony Joshua.

The American heavyweight claimed that Hearn was the reason for the Joshua clash having fallen through during their turbulent relationship, with AJ rejecting an offer of $50million [£40m] from Wilder's team in 2018.

But Wilder has now announced a shock move to team up with Hearn's Matchroom Boxing as part of a 5v5 card on June 1, where he will touch gloves with Frank Warren's contender Zhilei Zhang.

He explained how they learned to work together in an interview with The Stomping Ground, saying: "Like I said business is business, but we now see each other all the time.

"When you start talking to someone over and over again, although you have differences, you learn to work together and co-exist.

"You understand a bit more, I know how he is and how I stand with him!

"And he knows how he stands with me. But that doesn't mean we can't be polite when we see each other, we are still human beings."

Hearn and Wilder have had many more dealings since the former WBC champion was set to face Joshua this year, with a signed agreement in place.

But his defeat to Joseph Parker in December 2023 derailed the showdown, however the 38-year-old will be hoping a win over 'Big Bang' can rekindle his hopes of facing Joshua.

Hearn has joked the pair are now 'best friends' following the recent agreement, and anticipates him securing a comeback win.

"He does like me, we are besties," he joked in an interview with iFL TV. "But in all seriousness I've always liked Deontay Wilder.

Eddie Hearn rips into Deontay Wilder after public workout and says he does not rate it as a boxer

"Obviously we've always had the rivalry through AJ, but I got told to sign a heavyweight for the division and I believe Deontay Wilder will bounce back in style.

"I looked at those available and who was the best one available? It was Deontay Wilder, and he will knock him out inside five rounds.

"I have made him my captain and who knows where it goes after this, but we just need to go through Zhilei Zhang."

Given his working relationship with Hearn now appears to be repaired, it will likely be easier than ever to secure a fight with Joshua providing he gets the job done in Saudi Arabia.
