Our Wimbledon 2023 predictions

Having won his 23rd Grand Slam title at Roland Garros in June, Novak Djokovic remains the man to beat in the men’s draw. However, there are a number of players who will be looking to capitalise if the Serbian legend is not at his best. Fresh off the back of his success at Queens, Carlos Alcaraz, the world no.1, stands a good chance of reaching another Grand Slam final.

As for the women’s draw, world no.1 and recent French Open winner, Iga Swiatek, will be hoping to win Wimbledon for the first time. The four-time Grand Slam winner has so far struggled on grass, with her best showing at SW19 coming in 2021, when she reached the fourth round. Elsewhere, popular Tunisian Ons Jabeur is searching for a first Grand Slam, with the 28-year-old having been beaten by Elena Rybakina in the final 12 months ago.

Our past Wimbledon betting tips

Ahead of the opening day of play at Wimbledon 2023, it is worth taking a look at expert betting tips. Using our expert tennis knowledge and odds from leading bookies, the following are our betting tips for Wimbledon:

Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon at 1/2 (William Hill)

Despite the likes of Alcaraz, Murray, Medvedev and Sinner being in contention, it is still difficult to see anyone overcoming Djokovic over five sets on grass. The Serb is a 7x winner at SW19, with another success this summer putting him level with the great Roger Federer, something few thought possible not that long ago.

Ons Jabeur to win Wimbledon at 10/1 (bet365)

Spurred on by the disappointment of being the 2022 runner-up, Ons Jabeur looks set to go deep into the tournament this year too. Despite not being in the best of form in the build-up to Wimbledon, the Tunisian’s game is well-suited to grass. She would certainly be a popular winner in South-West London.

What are the doubles odds for Wimbledon?

While the odds for doubles draws at Wimbledon this year have yet to be released by bookies, there are some strong pairings to look out for. In the men’s doubles, British player Neal Skupski will team up with Wesley Koolhof. Meanwhile, Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram will be looking to win their fourth Grand Slam as a team. In the women’s doubles, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova will be difficult to beat. Entrants for the mixed doubles are announced on 5 July.

Who were Wimbledon champions in recent years?

Over the last decade, Novak Djokovic has dominated the men’s draw at Wimbledon. Winning the title for the first time in 2011, Djokovic would go on to win in 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 as well. Of course, Britain’s own Andy Murray won twice during that period, coming in 2013 and 2016.

In the women’s game, there is no clear pattern when it comes to Wimbledon winners. In fact, over the last decade, there have been just one player who has won the title more than once. Serena Williams won in both 2015 and 2016, with other winners including Petra Kvitova, Angelique Herber, Ashleigh Barty and most recently, Elena Rybakina.

Which tennis players have the most Wimbledon titles?

In the men’s game, Roger Federer holds the record for the most Wimbledon titles. This is a number that Djokovic would match should he come out on top this summer. The Serbian is level with Pete Sampras on seven titles at this moment.

In the women’s game, no player has more titles in the modern era than Martina Navratilova. She won the title on nine occasions, the last of which came in 1990. Serena Williams follows closely behind, with the American having won Wimbledon seven times during her illustrious career.
